Lighting: Bright future

Lidar uses a pulsed laser beam that is scanned across the field of view in small, angular increments

Joachim Reill, senior director for applications engineering at Osram Opto Semiconductors, studies the use of lighting in the car of the future

Robosense develops lidar at fraction of cost

Robosense lidar system can detect objects

Robosense has developed intelligent perception lidar, a hardware and software algorithm for the mass production of safer autonomous cars. The RS-IPLS uses real-time data pre-processing and a gaze function similar to human eyes.

The company says the system is inexpensive, 1/400th the price of traditional 64-line lidar systems, and is designed for the mass production of vehicles at a low price.

Innoviz announces mems-based scanning lidar at CES

InnovizPro stand-alone, solid-state, mems-based scanning lidar

Innoviz Technologies announced at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the commercial launch of InnovizPro, a stand-alone, solid-state, mems-based scanning lidar.

A CES Innovation Awards winner in the vehicle intelligence and self-driving technology category, InnovizPro is said to to deliver ground-breaking 3D sensing at a significantly lower cost.
