Etsi connected tractor warns other road users of its presence

Etsi connected tractor on show this week

Standards body Etsi exhibited its first tractor connected wirelessly to a car at its Sophia Antipolis headquarters this week. The tractor sends a warning to road vehicles using a communications protocol standardised by Etsi.

Motorists are warned at a distance of 1km to avoid the collisions that frequently occur at day and night.

Etsi explores adopting Mirrorlink

Standards body Etsi is to explore adopting Mirrorlink as a technical specification. Mirrorlink, created by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), is a standard to provide interoperability between a smartphone and a car’s in-vehicle infotainment system.

The announcement was made at this week’s 66th Etsi General Assembly meeting in Sophia Antipolis.

Transcend lands ISO/TS 16949:2009 quality certification

Transcend Information has been awarded ISO/TS 16949:2009 quality management system certification by SGS. The company says this demonstrates its continuous improvement in quality management to satisfy the strict product quality needs and requirements of the automotive industry.
