Vishay thyristors and diodes meet AEC-Q101

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced 37 high-voltage thyristors and diodes for automotive applications. Qualified to AEC-Q101, the devices have repetitive voltages from 600 to 1600V and wide current ranges in three package options.

The devices are available in surface-mount DPak (TO-252AA) and D²Pak (TO-263AB) packages and in the through-hole TO-247AD.

The nine thyristors deliver continuous RMS on-state current from 12 to 79A, while the 28 standard and fast recovery diodes have forward current from 8 to 65A. All devices provide up to 1000V/µs immunity.

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a series of wirewound noise suppressor resistors to improve voltage performance and reliability for automotive ignition systems in reciprocating engines.

The Vishay Dale NSR-HP devices have a coating that increases reliability by protecting the resistive element against moisture and mechanical shock while enabling high-voltage performance to 45kV and operating temperatures to +200˚C.

The resistors can withstand high voltage pulses at high frequencies and have a dielectric withstand voltage of 1kV AC.

Vishay Intertechnology has announced a power metal strip battery shunt resistor with two sense pins and that provides a 36W power capacity in the 8518 case size.

With resistance values down to 50µΩ, the Vishay Dale WSBS8518.20 is said to increase accuracy and lower costs compared with Hall Effect current sensing, while its sense pins assist in PCB mounting and provide consistent contact point location.

Vishay proximity sensor provides gesture recognition

An integrated automotive-grade proximity and ambient light sensor for gesture recognition is available from Vishay Intertechnology.

Using Filtron technology, the VCNL4035X01 combines photo detectors for proximity and ambient light, a signal conditioning IC, a 16bit ADC, and a driver for up to three external IREDs in one 4 by 2.36 by 0.75mm surface-mount package. The AEC-Q101 qualified sensor has an interrupt function and supports the I²C bus communications interface.

Vishay MLCCs operate up to +175˚C

Vishay Intertechnology has announced a series of automotive grade, radial-leaded multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) for extreme operating conditions.

The BC Components K to H series Hotcap devices combine an operating temperature of +175˚C for all available ceramic dielectrics with a capacitance range from 100pF to 1μF and capacitance tolerances down to ±5%.

To accommodate the harsh operating conditions of automotive applications, the devices are equipped with an MLCC insert produced in a wet build process and using noble metal electrodes.

Vishay extends voltage range for aluminium capacitors

Vishay Intertechnology has extended the voltage range for its automotive grade 146 CTI and 160 CLA series of surface-mount aluminium capacitors to 100 and 80V, respectively. For high-temperature automotive and industrial applications, the devices provide low impedance, high ripple current and long useful life.

The 146 CTI capacitors are available in nine case sizes with operating temperatures to +125˚C, while the 160 CLA series is offered in six case sizes and provides operation to +150˚C.

High-voltage thin-film flat chip resistors that combine precision properties – VCR less than 1ppm/V, tolerances to ± 0.1%, and TCR down to ±10ppm/K – with operating voltages to 1kV have been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology for use electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

A surface-mount power metal strip resistor from Vishay Intertechnology is designed to save space in automotive, industrial, computer and consumer applications. The Dale WSHM2818 combines a 7W power rating with resistance values down to 1mΩ in the 2818 case size.
